flash player app

I want my game to be available to anyone who wishes to play the game so I have imported the game into a flash player application and embedded it in a webpage.

Multiplayer!

using the source code from the Flartoolkit I was able to include multiple marker detection so that more than one of my mazes can be recognised.

Applying my maze!

After applying textures to a very simple maze I created I then exported it from blender using the colada export as a .dae which i then applied to the source code in the flartoolkit.

FLARToolkit

After printing out the FLarlogo marker i was able to map a smiple graphic onto it.

A great start!

Still using the FLARToolkit! Link

FLex development

Having no pervious knowledge of how Flex builder works and following numerous tutorials I have started looking at alternative and more simple methods.

FLEX Builder

While the Sketch up plug in gave me a sample of AR I needed something that would give me more freedom and allow more interactivity so I have looked at using Flex builder with Papervision and FLARToolkit.

Augmented reality

Now that I have a working game in Blender i have decided to start looking at how I am going to include augmented reality.

Here I have used Google Sketch Up with a free trial version of an AR plugin for sketch up

The free trial only gives me a 30 second trial period but allowed me to see a very basic model of my maze in real time 3D

Blender development

To make the game seem more like a Labyrinth I took control away from the ball and gave it to the maze itself.

Blender Game engine

Here I have assigned properties to both the camera and ball in the maze so that the arrow keys on the keyboard will control the ball and also so that the camera will follow the ball from a high.

Blender

After creating my flash game I started working in 3d with he open source program Blender.

I started by building a 3d maze by warping a flat plane

How on earth do you upload flash to blogger! ???

Flash Development

Wanting to experiment more with action script I included a timer to put the player under pressure to complete the maze as quickly as possible.

Weather or not the player competed the maze in the time limit one of the two messages would then be displayed.

Flash Game

For the first part of my development I made a small maze game using Adobe Flash and Action script 2.0.
For this very simple game the player would control the small blue ball around the maze using the arrow keys on the keyboard. I used hit tests in AS so that the player would be held within the walls of the maze and another hit test when the player reached the finish.

Research

Here I have looked at different examples of augmented reality used in games;

for my game I want to redesign the classic wooden Labyrinth game where a small metal ball is carefully directed around the maze by tilting handles into a modern digital game.

augumented reality game

Hello,

Welcome to my blog which will take you through step by step the progress i make during the development of a game I will be creating.

My chosen concept is to create an experimental maze/labyrinth game using augmented reality.
